Blair: Paloma, it's so good to hear your voice. Are you in the united states?

Paloma: Por que?

Todd: Just get rid of that thing.

Paloma: No, I in mexico, pero --

Blair: What? Why are you calling?

Paloma: Senora, I know something. Something for you muy importante.

Blair: Well, what is it, paloma?

Paloma: It's concerning the --

Blair: Hey!

Todd: Don't you ever call here again, ever!

Blair: Todd, what did you do that for?

Todd: Do what?

Blair: Well, you ripped the cell phone right out of my hand and you yelled at a woman
who's shown nothing but kindness to us and then you hung up on her. For what, for me?

Todd: Oh, you don't need to thank me, not now.

Blair: I wasn't planning on it.

Todd: I'm not going to stand around while somebody calls and makes you all crazy again.

Blair: I was fine until you hung up on her in the middle of a conversation.

Todd: That paloma woman has no right to call here from mexico and
remind you of all the -- from mex-- she -- she was calling from mexico, right?

Todd: Well, good, because I'd hate to think that she was calling from a cell phone in the driveway.

Blair: Oh, she wasn't. Why are you even asking something so ridiculous?

Todd: It's not so ridiculous.

Blair: Yes, it is.

Todd: Look, I just don't want that character bothering you.

Blair: She wasn't bothering me.

Todd: Hey, blair, I was right here, ok? I saw with my own eyes. You're all happy,
and then she calls and then, bang, now look at you. You're like an emotional disaster area.

Blair: That's because you hung up on her before i found out what she wanted, todd.

Todd: Oh, I tell you what she wanted.

Blair: What did she want?

Todd: She was calling because she was dialing for dollars.

Blair: She never asked me for a penny.

Todd: Yeah, because I hung up the phone before she had a chance to.
Believe me, if she was still on the phone, you'd hear the whole routine "oh, senorita,
so sorry about the dead babycita. I pray all the time. I tell you, you give me the pesos

Blair: Todd, todd, you are being mean. You're being very mean.

[Jack si crying]

Todd: Well, why else would she call just out of the blue like that?

Blair: You're upsetting the little baby here. I'll tell you why she called.
We'll never find out unless she calls back.

Todd: And if she calls back, she's going to get the same treatment, believe me.

Blair: Todd.

Todd: Look, I'm not going to let somebody call and remind you of the worst day of your life
just to make a quick buck.

Blair: Paloma calling is not going to remind me of the worst day of my life
and of the baby that we lost, todd. Because I think about him every day.

Blair: You know, if paloma does call back, I really do want to talk her because, you know,
maybe she knows something, you know, about what really happened to our son.

Todd: Blair, she doesn't care anymore. She doesn't care anymore because she's not
on the payroll anymore.

Blair: You know, todd, I knew paloma a lot longer than you did and she was very upset
by the death of our child.

Todd: She was just upset because she was hoping to come back with the kid
and you to america and be the kid's nanny.

Blair: You know what maybe she knows something about how our son was cremated by accident.

Todd: Cremated by ... blair!

Blair: And you know what? Maybe she has some hospital records. You know,
she talked to a lawyer or a doctor or a nurse or somebody

Todd: Blair, blair, there's a kid in a crib in the next room who needs you, ok?
You got to forget about this dead baby in mexico.

Blair: I'm never going to forget, todd, ever. I carried that baby in my body
for his short little life, and now I'm carrying him in my heart for as long as i live.
No matter what you say about that beautiful baby in there, he's not our son.

Todd: What if I told you he is?

Blair: You're not making any sense here. I mean, how can that be our child? It's not.

Todd: Uh, no, that's not what i mean.

Blair: That's exactly what you said.

Todd: No, no, no, no, what i mean is, what if you say that , that is your baby
and then you make yourself believe that?

Blair: You want me to make myself believe something that isn't true? How can I do that, todd?

Todd: No, no, I'm just saying that you take what's true and you kind of you look at it in,
like a different way. Ok, look, I know, you know, scientifically speaking that kid's got different, uh,
cells or whatever you want to call it

Blair: Mind, body, and soul.

Todd: Yes, but that's not all there is to this kid.

Blair: What's left?

Todd: Everything that you give him. You give him yourself, your love. I mean,
that's a big part of who this kid turns out to be, right? A big part.

Blair: Yeah, you're right.

Todd: You just give this kid everything that you were going to give that kid.
And then it's like they're the same tiny little person. And then the hurt will go away faster.

Blair: You haven't forgotten about the son that we lost, either, have you?
You brought him into the world even though you thought he was max's, and your heart bonded
with his little heart. he was your son, even though you didn't know the truth.
And even when you found out, I mean even if you hadn't have found out,
you would've felt the loss just as much as I did.

Todd: You just say that this new baby is the same baby and he is. Like nothing ever even happened.

Blair: Oh, todd.

Todd: What?

Blair: I -- I know what this -- I know what you're doing here. I know what this is about.
I know why you're saying it's the same baby.

Todd: You do?

Blair: I know what this is all about, todd.

Todd: How long have you known what this is all about?

Blair: Well, I've -- maybe just now, maybe -- maybe for a while, but i do know. You're afraid.

Todd: What is it that you think i'm afraid of?

Blair: Of everything that we have now. It's what you've always wanted,
and now that you have it, you don't even dare to believe that it could be yours.

Todd: What are you talking about?

Blair: I'm talking about happiness, todd. Happiness. You, me, and starr,
the family that you have always wanted. Except for the baby that was left behind in mexico.
And you think that that one tragedy is just going to wipe out all the
other happiness that's right within your reach.

Todd: You're right. How stupid of me.

Blair: Come on, todd, it's not stupid. People do it all the time. It's ... it's just called denial.

Todd: Well, I'd call it stupid.

Blair: Well, you can call it whatever you want. The important thing is
that you don't have to do it because all the happiness we need is right
here, right here in the real world, todd. And, yeah, we've had a lot of
sadness, but it's behind us, todd, and that's where it's going to stay

Todd: You seem to.

Blair: I do. A baby died because of the mistakes that we made. But we have to trust our love.
And we have to live with the wrong that we did, knowing that we won't ever make that mistake again.
We can do it, todd. We -- we don't have to be afraid.

Todd: The only thing i'm afraid of is everything that you're saying.

Blair: I love you. Starr loves you. And that sweet baby boy in the next room is going
to love you like crazy. So that hurt, scared little boy inside you doesn't have to worry anymore.
Because we have so much, so much to look forward to.

Todd: You know what i'm really looking forward to?

Blair: What?

Todd: Ok, there's a surprise downstairs. Starr's watching over it.
All I got to do is call her and she'll bring it right up. What do you say?

Todd: Surprise!

Blair: What? a photographer?

Starr: Yeah, mommy, isn't it cool? She's going to take our family photo.

Blair: You set this up?

Todd: Well, yeah, I mean, there's that -- that big picture downstairs.
I figured we need a really big photograph for up here.

Photographer: Hi, I'm mandy miles. You have a lovely family and I'm sure your portrait's going to be beautiful.
So if you'll just step aside with the baby

Blair: Ok. This way?

Blair: I cannot believe that you set this up behind my back.

Todd: Yeah, well, everybody has a gift.

Blair: Well, I'm going to have to keep my eye on you, mr. Manning.

Todd: Really?

Blair: Mm-hmm.

Todd: Ok.

Paloma: You no smile because you bad man who lie about el nino muerto.
Well, you'll never smile again, nunca.

Todd: I'll smile, damn it!

Blair: You call that a smile? You look like you just lost your best friend.

Todd: I don't have a best friend.

Blair: Well, you have me.

Starr: And me, and the baby, too. He would say it, but, you know, he can't talk.

Blair: And you know what, todd -- I think you'd have more friends if you smiled more.

Todd: One more reason not to smile.

Starr: Hey, mom?

Blair: Hmm?

Starr: Is daddy ticklish?

Blair: Well, I don't know, starr.

Todd: No. Don't even think about it.

Starr: Let's find out.

Todd: Oh, come on. Hey!

Blair: Tickle, tickle, tickle!

Todd: No, stop!

Blair: Get him!

Todd: Come on, we got to take --

Todd: We got to take a picture! Come on.

Blair: Get him!
